There are various health effects due to the depletion of ozone layer.

 

HCFC Phase Out Management

Provide directions and guidelines for projects focusing phasing out HCFC elimination. Several National Projects are initiated.

 

Creating Awareness Among General Public

Conducts awareness programs for education sector, public organizations and social groups. General public are to be educated with scientific factors on action taken. 

Control of Import, Export and Production of Ozone Depleting Substances

According to the Montreal Protocol 96 chemicals are categorized into groups  by considering  their aggressiveness on ozone layer or ozone depleting potential (ODP).

KAGALI Cooling Efficiency Program

The project directly initiated by UNDP in collaboration with the unit. Currently we have achieved several goals through the project.

Mission of the NOU

To phase out ODS with minimum inconvenience to the
local industries and society taking in to consideration of
global environment, local environment and economic
conditions.


Role of the NOU

On behalf of GOSL, NOU is legally bound to implement
the provisions of the Montreal Protocol, create awareness,
introducing alternatives, focus on energy efficiency etc.
